Lucky Week #7

logo

Here we are heading into our last full week of July – wow – has that gone by fast or what!!  It’s kind of a sad week – it’s the last week that my brother will be here.  He teaches Science in Corpus Christi, Texas, as the past 3 years he has come up to the booming metropolis of Batavia to help out his favorite sister/brother-in-law on our farm!!  He has been awesome help – and, of course it’s been fun picking on him as only a little sister could (and I am pretty good at it too!!)  Last year we felt bad because all he did was move irrigation pipe around – this year wasn’t so bad – he got to experience a well rounded two months of fun and exciting things to do on the farm!!
And it wouldn’t be a complete trip if he didn’t have wings – you just can’t get good wings in Texas he says!  So, bittersweet, we will miss him and hope that he is already counting down the days until he returns next year to help us out!!

U Pick blueberries is heading into the second week – we will probably be open this week and next and then we will be done for the season.  If you want to enjoy them all winter you best be getting out and gettin’ some pickin’ done!!  CSA members will pay $2.50 a pound and the public is paying $2.75 a pound.  The picking is pretty easy – the taste is awesome – so don’t miss out.  This week our U pick hours will be Monday – Thursday 8-6 closed on Friday – open on Saturday 8-4 and closed on Sunday.  You can bring your own container or use one of ours!  It is cash and check only at the blueberry field.  The blueberry farm is located at 998 Main Rd Corfu – just down the road from Kutter’s Cheese!!
This week half shares will receive 3 tickets and full shares will receive 6 tickets.
Available this week will be……………………
***New this week*** Sweet Corn – Butter and Sugar
***New this week*** Cucumbers
***New this week*** Red Cabbage
***New this week*** Savoy Cabbage
Green Cabbage
Kohlrabi
Zucchini
Kale
Swiss Chard
Beans
Potatoes
Garlic
I look forward to seeing all of you this week either on Tuesday or Thursday from 2-6 p.m.
And I will leave you with a cute picture of Lexi – she was out helping us pick cabbage the other day – it was a little sunny out so I thought she really needed to protect herself from the UV rays so we put a “hat” on her!

She is totally not a fan of wearing any type of clothing whether it be real or vegetable related!!!
Have a great week!
Gail
